Around 1927 a group of Doctors, lawyers, other affluent individuals and a few prominent farmers who had city contacts would “get together” for the purposes of hunting. At that time there was an abundance of pheasants, ducks and geese in the immediate vicinity of the Hole in the Wall. Apparently office secretaries and booze were a regular part of these weekend hunting trips.
The first building stood on the site of our current clubhouse. It was relocated (circa 1930)from the Ross Peer’s Willows Farm to this location on a stone boat. This lodge was moved to its current site and it exists to this day as the living room of the caretaker’s home. The property was purchased by George Cassady and a few of his hunting friends for an unknown amount of money. The first main lodge was built in the early 1930’s and was completely destroyed by fire in December of 1975.
